India Seven drown in two mishaps in K'taka
Seven people, including two children, were feared drowned in two separate incidents in Karnataka today. Police said four youths from a private company in Bangalore, were feared drowned in river Cauvery at Muthathi picnic spot in Mandya district. In all, eight employees of a private company had gone to the spot in the evening. Four of them went for swimming in the river, but did not return. Three bodies had so far been recovered from waters. They were identified as Kumar, Prakash and Venkatesh. The search was on to locate the fourth victim Vikram. In the other incident, three persons, including two children were drowned when a coracle, in which they were sailing at Mukund Lake in Sindgi taluk capsized. Seven others were rescued. The incident occurred when ten people were travelling in the coracle, which capsized midway to Kali temple on the island in the middle of the lake. Nearby fishermen rescued seven people while three others died. One body was so far recovered. The victims hailed from Adoni in Andhra Pradesh, police added. -- (UNI) -- 02MS54.xml
