JAC urges TN Govt to suspend cops as per HC order
Chennai | Monday, Nov 2 2009 IST

Joint Action Committee(JAC) of Advocates today urged the Tamil Nadu Government to suspend four top police officials, who instigated violence inside the Madras High Court campus on February 19, as per the direction of the Madras High Court.

JAC consisting of several advocates organisations, met here in the Tamil Nadu-Pondichery Bar Council premises and discussed about the outcome of the Court order on the issue.

R C Paul Kanagaraj, Chairman of the JAC and President of the Madras High Court Advocates Association(MHAA) told UNI, the Court delivered its verdict against the cops for violence and attack on lawyers at the court campus.

JAC, as per the court direction, is urging the State Government to take stern action against Additional Director General of Police K Radhakrishnan, former Additional Commissioner of the City Police A K Viswanathan, Joint Commissioner Ramasubramaniam and the Deputy Commissioner Prem Anand Sinha, Mr Kanagaraj added.

It may be recalled, a division bench comprising Justices F M Ibrahim Kalli Fulla and Prabha Sreedevan on October 30, directed the Government to place the concerned police officials under suspension by using its discretionary power.
