CPI(M), CPI hand in gloves with Maoists: Togadia

Accusing the CPI(M) and CPI of being hand in gloves with the Maoists, Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) chief Praveen Togadia today said the Maoist problem arose as the Central and the West Bengal governments lacked political willingness to take strong actions against the insurgents.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Togadia said, ''The Maoist problem is the biggest threat to the Indian economy. The CPI and CPI(M) are solely responsible for growth of the outfit in the undeveloped and tribal areas in West Bengal.'' ''Both the parties are ideologically hand in glove with the Maoists,'' he charged.

He said since the law and order situation was a ''state matter'', the Left Front government in the state should possess strong political will to take actions against the Maoists to end their violent activities.

The problems in tribal belts could be solved if the government provides facilities like education, health and employment in the area, Mr Togadia said.

''We appeal to the Central and state governments to defeat Maoist ultras and focus on development and social activities for the progress of Indian economy,'' he added.
