Raghuveera suggests Chiranjeevi to merge PRP with Congress
Hyderabad | Monday, Nov 2 2009 IST

Asserting that the ruling Congress had enough strength to fight on its own the November 23 civic polls in Hyderabad and future elections in Andhra Pradesh, senior party leader and state Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today suggested that actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi must merge his fledgling Praja Rajyam Party(PRP) with the Congress.

Talking to reporters here, he said, ''Merger of PRP with the Congress will be beneficial to both the parties.'' He said he personally felt that the Congress need not go for an alliance with any other party. The PRP, or for that matter any other party, was free to put forward proposals for merger of their respective parties with the Congress, he added. ''A majority of the city Congress leaders, to whom I have spoken, are also against any alliance with other parties. We are airing our personal views. It is for the Congress High Command to decide on the issue,'' he added.

Even Pradesh Congress president D Srinivas had earlier announced that the party would contest all the 150 wards,'' he recalled, adding ''when some PRP leaders came for talks with the Congress leaders on the issue of alliance, Mr Srinivas had asked partymen to air their views.
