IBM, Perfetti Van Melle sign 'IT Services deal'
Bangalore | Monday, Nov 2 2009 IST

IBM today announced that it has signed an 'IT services deal' with the Indian subsidiary of Perfetti Van Melle, worlds third largest confectionary group.

Under the agreement, IBM would design and build a 'green data centre,' aimed to provide networking infrastructure for data centres as well as offer end-to-end facilities management services to clients, according to a release here.

PVM India, which manufactures and markets popular confectionary brands like Center Fresh, Alpenliebe, Mentos, Chlor-Mint and Happydent, among others, operates one of the largest distribution networks and was among the fastest growing Fast Moving Consumer Goods companies in India. In order to support its increasingly complex IT operations and keep its operational costs low at the same time, PVM India chose IBM above other major competitors for setting up a 1,000 sq ft green data centre as well providing network management using innovative tools like Network Operations Center-Inside. R Ramesh Chari, Chief Financial Officer, Perfetti Van Melle (India), said ''Perfetti Van Melle is fully committed towards making its IT infrastructure 'green' and putting in place a 'green data centre' was only logical. Neeraj Sharma, Director, Integrated Technology Services, IBM (India/South Asia), said ''IBMs expertise in helping clients bring down their operational costs is a very significant value proposition that they are attracted to.''
