Minority Forum to oppose BJP's bandh on Nov 30
Kolkata | Monday, Nov 2 2009 IST

The All India Minority Forum today opposed the BJP sponsored 12-hour Bengal bandh on November 30 to protest hike in prices of essentials.

The Forum's president Idris Ali said its opposition to the bandh was due to Id-ul-Azha on November 28 which also meant observation of ''Kurbani'' till November 30.

''We will not allow any type of Bengal bandh during the festival of the minority community,'' Mr Ali said in a statement.

Mr Ali warned that if the bandh was not withdrawn, the Forums members would be forced to hit the streets because Id-Ul-Azha is the second biggest festival of Muslims.

The Forum members also celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.

BJP state president Rahul Sinha yesterday said the shutdown at month end would be a culmination of the party's ongoing agitation, launched on Sunday protesting price rise of essentials.
