DMK MLA dead

Vandavasi DMK MLA S P Jayaraman died early this morning at the Adyar Cancer Institute here.

He had been suffering from stomach cancer for several months and was admitted to the Institute on Saturday where his condition was critical.

Earlier, he underwent treatment at the Apollo Hospitals here.

After his condition deteriorated, he was discharged and taken to his native village Chengadu,near Cheyyar.

Again, he was taken back to Chennai on Saturday.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and his Cabinet colleagues paid their last respects to the mortal remains of Mr Jayaraman.
