Hasish worth Rs 43 cr seized, 3 foreign natonals held

In a major haul of narcotics the city police today arrested three foreign nationals and seized 43 kg of high quality hashish worth Rs 43 crore in the international market at Bangalore International Airport today.

Talking to newspersons here, Police commissioner Shankar Bidari said the trio had travelled by train to the city from Delhi and were about to fly out to London via Dubai in an Emirates airliner before they were arreted.

The narcotics were concened in the false bottom of their suitacases. They were identified as Merke Ased of Poland, Reubi Walter of Switzerland and Johnn Touchler of Austria.

''Johnn had travelled from Nepal to Delhi and joined the other two. The trio travelled in Karnataka express and landed in the city and were about to fly out when the police officers of Intelligence wing of the city police with the help of customs officials nabbed them,'' he added.

Mr Bidari said this was the seventh narcotic haul in the city airport and he had ordered a detailed investigation into the incidents.

''They were arrested when they were about to board the Emirates flight to London via Dubai in the evening,'' the official added.
