Quality of education vital in nation's prograss: Gov

Kerala Governer R S Gavai said here today a nation's progress was based on the quality of education it imparts to the young generation.

He was speaking at the 17th Institution of Engineers India Convocation and Technician-Students Convention here.

The Governer also pointed out that modern advancements in science and technology had resulted in total change in teaching and learning methods world over.

In India, technical education played a vital role in the socio-economic development of the country.

Adapting technical expertise for specific needs in core areas like agriculture, health and defence is challenging to the young technocrats.

The Governer also said efforts should be made to develop competent manpower catering the need of various industries.

Many distinguished personalities, including IGNOU Vice Chancellor V N Rajashekharan Pillai also spoke at the programme.
