Sehwag, Gambhir doubtful for Mohali One-dayer
Mohali | Sunday, Nov 1 2009 IST

Openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir are doubtful for the fourth one-day international against Australia to be played here tomorrow.

Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has been drafted in as the replacement for the Delhi duo.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not reveal whether the two will be available for tomorrow's game and said a final call will only be taken in the morning.

''Dinesh Karthik will be joining the Indian team in Mohali,'' BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement.

''Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir sustained injuries during the third match of the Hero Honda Cup 2009, played at Delhi on October 31. ''A final decision on their availability for the fourth match, to be played at Mohali on November 2 will be taken on the morning of the game,'' the statement added.

India had a major injury scare yesterday when Gambhir, while fielding at short-leg was hit on his neck when Ricky Ponting went for a pull shot in the 18th over of the match.

Sehwag, meanwhile, was hit on his foot by a yorker from Peter Siddle in the eighth over and the opener's discomfort was evident after the physio came rushing into the ground.
