Kerala Govt would not impose restrictions on media:Pinarai
Kochi | Sunday, Nov 1 2009 IST

CPI(M State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan today said the Kerala Government would not impose restrictions on media.

Speaking in a Meet the Press programme organised by Ernakulam Press Club, Mr Vijayan said controlling the media was not an agenda of the Left Democratic Front(LDF) Government.

A decision to release government-related informations only through Public Relations Department(PRD) was to ensure genuine information to Media and this should not be construed as censorship on the Fourth Estate, he added.

The CPI(M) leader said people would vote for the LDF in the ensuing Assembly byepolls to the State. He alleged the Centre was trying to strengthen its privatisation policy and many profit-making establishments would be sold out soon.

He would comment about 'Love Jihad' issue following a detailed study on the issue, he said.
