Kareena says she's not size zero
New Delhi | Saturday, Oct 31 2009 IST

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor today admitted that she was not size zero as she was said to be and maintained her figure by practising yoga strictly.

Speaking at a joint session with Saif Ali Khan at the HT Leadership Summit here, Kareena said, ''I am not size zero and I never was. It's just that everybody mentions it. It has actually been a number one bestseller for me. I lost a lot of weight for my film 'Tashan' from 58 kilos to 50 kilos. I used to have 4 paranthas everyday at that time but was advised to reduce it to 2 and gradually reach the level of one only. The first 2-3 weeks were tough but later, it turned OK.'' The actress also said she followed a strict yoga regime to maintain her figure and had not entered a gym for the last one-and-a-half-year.

''It's just yoga for me. I do 100 surya namaskars everyday though I began with only ten.'' Kareena added she did not drink and was a vegetarian.

The actress also said she knew that little girls looked up to her ever since her film 'Jab We Met' turned a blockbuster.

''It does give me a lot of responsibility. I am much more aware now while doing certain kind of roles.'' Asked why she did the critically panned film 'Kambakht Ishq' in which her role was insubstantial, the actress replied, ''I did it because I wanted to look glamourous and wear all those clothes which I did. I also have something substantial in my bank account for which I did the film.'' To a question as to which of her three acclaimed movies 'Chameli', 'Omkara' and 'Jab We Met' was the most challenging for her, Kareena said 'Chameli' was the one. ''I was 23-years-old at that time and had no idea about the life and background of sex workers in Mumbai streets. Also, it was a story of just one night. And 'Chameli' did break the grounds as it did commercially well.''
