Trinamool has joining hands with Maoists: Buddhadeb
Kolkata | Saturday, Oct 31 2009 IST

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today accused the Trinamool Congress of joining hands with the CPI(Maoists) and creating anarchy throughout the state.

Addressing a Left Front convention at Netaji Indoor Stadium here, Mr Bhattacharjee said, ''At least 65 party leaders and workers have been killed by Maoists during the past two months. Although the Centre has been describing Maoists as serious internal threat to the country, the UPA's ally Trinamool Congress is yet to realise it.'' ''Maoists are the biggest problem in the state. Could the Trinamool Congress deny their involvement in Nandigram and Singur incidents,'' he questioned.

''When Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee was meeting with Peoples' Committee against Police Atrocities(PCPA) leader Chatradhar Mahato in Lalgarh, we informed that the PCPA had links with the Maoists. She denied that and demanded for the withdrawal of combined forces from the Lalgarh areas.'' ''The abduction of the drivers of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was made in demand for the release of PCPA leader Chatradhar Mahato. However, no FIR was lodged against the PCPA,'' Mr Bhattacharjee added. ''The CRPF has named the Maoists, along with the group backed by them, in the FIR. It is ridiculous that the Railways have said that they did not know who did it,'' the Chief Minister observed. ''We urge the Trinamool Congress to leave the Maoists and not to shake hands with the them. We are determined to free the state from Maoist menace with the help of people,'' Mr Bhattacharjee stated.
