2 masons die of asphyxiation in city

Two masons in their early 30s died of asphyxiation, when they entered into a reservoir atop a three-storeyed flat under construction at EM Bypass here today.

Police said the mishap occurred, when one of them entered the cemented water tank at Kalitalla under Kasba police station and did not return despite several calls. Another mason immediately entered the reservoir and he too did not return. Later, they were rescued and sent to a local nursing home in unconscious condition, where they succummed.

The promoter of the flat and other members fled after the mishap. The bodies were sent for post-mortem, police added.
