Trinamool hand in glove with Maoists: Buddhadeb
Kolkata | Friday, Oct 30 2009 IST

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today accused the Trinamool Congress of being hand in glove with Maoists and wondered why no FIR was lodged against the PCPA regarding the October 27 Rajdhani Express incident. Addressing a Left Front rally here, Mr Bhattacharjee said '' People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) supporters, along with the Maoists, were involved in the abduction of the driver and assistant driver of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Banstala Station near Jhargram in West Midnapore district.'' '' The abduction was done in demand for the release of PCPA leader Chatradhar Mahato, but no FIR was lodged against the PCPA, '' Mr Bhattacharjee added. ''Although the CRPF named the Maoists, along with the group backed by them, in the FIR, it is ridiculous that the Railways have said that they did not know who did it,'' the Chief Minister observed. Without naming Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, Mr Bhattacharjee said, ''Chhatradhar Mahato's outfit PCPA, which is a Maoists' creation, held up the Rajdhani Express.

However, the names of the outfit did not figure in the Railways' FIR.'' He alleged the Railways were trying to shield the Maoists and the group backed by them. ''I was surprised that the Opposition has supported the Maoists.

This was evident in Nandigram when Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee supported the PCPA there. Will the party deny it?'' he asked.

''The Trinamool Congress is working with the Maoists to end the Left Front rule. The party is thinking that it will be able to dislodge the Left Frong government by joining hands with the Maoists. We accept their challenge. We will unmask the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists,'' he added.

According to him, the Maoists' menace would not be a bigger threat if all the parties condemned them and thus, the problem would be solved.
