PTTI students breach CM's security
Kolkata | Friday, Oct 30 2009 IST

Security of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was breached today when a group of Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTTI) students sneaked into his convoy near Writers' Buildings, urging him to concede their demands.

The incident occurred at around 1330 hours when the Chief Minister was going home during lunch time.

Shouting slogans against the state government, the students alleged that the administration was adopting dilly-dallying attitude to their cause. Police, however, rushed to the spot and removed the agitators before arresting them.

Later, Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen admitted that the incident was a security lapse, but maintained that a report was sought from the Police Commissioner and action would be taken after scrutinising it.

'' It was a security lapse. But, it is also tough to keep a vigil at every point, '' he said.
