Thackeray criticises Bhujbal, Rane, Raj
Mumbai | Wednesday, Oct 28 2009 IST

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has criticised former Sainiks like Chhagan Bhujbal, Narayan Rane and Raj Thackeray for leaving the party and ending up as 'puppets' in the hands of others.

''This is the plight of those who had left Shiv Sena.

Congress or Sharad Pawar, both provoke people to defect in order to weaken Shiv Sena. They use these people and later throw them away when their need is over. Shiv Sena was engulfed from all sides in the assembly elections and efforts were made to stop it,'' Mr Thackeray said in an editorial in the party mouthpiece 'Saamana' today. ''Yesterday, Rane and Bhujbal were used for this. Now, they have changed the persons and instruments. Those who are being used today will be discarded tomorrow and the Marathi people will tread upon this garbage,'' the editorial said.

Bhujbal and others parted ways with the Sena for gaining power. In return, Bhujbal became Deputy Chief Minister thrice, the post which is low-key as the Chief Minister wields all the power, Mr Thackeray said.

''After departing with the Sena, Bhujbal remembers me and sheds tears to gain sympathy. He even met me with his family recently. Some say he yearns for me even today. If he had so much love for me, why did he leave? I am aware of all his farce. Once, I had the place of God in his heart, now the number of Gods in his heart has increased,'' said Mr Thackeray while criticising Mr Bhujbal.

On the other hand, Narayan Rane has lost his sheen in the recent Assembly elections as his was the only win for the Congress in Sindhudurg district, the editorial said. ''Rane, who once staked claim for the chief ministership and raised doubts about the capability of Ashok Chavan, was the first person to congratulate him on his selection as the Chief Minister and is now begging for a ministerial berth. He had even threatend to end the existence of the Congress,'' Mr Thackeray said in his criticisim of Mr Rane. ''Shiv Sena is Shiv Sena. No matter, how many conspiracies are hatched against it, it will survive all of them. Those who want to blow the trumpets or drums of victory should beat them. I extend my best wishes to those who will take oaths of Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and minister's posts. Energy in my heart cannot minimise the load-shedding in Maharashtra, but will surely provide the inspiration to lakhs of Shiv Saininks to rise again,'' he said. ''Keep beating the drums of your victory but, at the same time, search for the cause of silence of sorrow across Maharashtra,'' Mr Thackeray concluded.
