Delhi, C'garh and TN emerge winners in Nat'l Games

New Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu today bagged top honours in headball, basketball and swimming team championships in the 35th National Games for Women in this City of Lakes. Chhattisgarh humbled Punjab 69-36 in the basketball final.

Karnataka defeated New Delhi 60-25 for the third spot. New Delhi subdued Chhattisgarh 28-24 in headball final, while Punjab registered a 27-19 win over Maharashtra. Continuing her winning spree, Delhi's Richa Mishra bagged golds in the 400-m freestyle, 200-m breaststroke, 200-m medley and 4 X 100-m freestyle relay and took her overall medal tally to ten.

Pooja Sharma from host Madhya Pradesh defeated Delhi's Khurana 3-1 in table tennis single final to bring the lone gold for the hosts. Madhya Pradesh received bronze in table tennis double and team events. Tamil Nadu's Aishwarya and S Sangeeta bagged gold medal in table tennis double final by defeating Delhi's Nikita Rautela and Tina Khurana.

Former Indian hockey captain and Arjuna awardee Madhu Yadav, former Hockey Olympian Ashok Dhyanchand, SAI's central region director R K Naidu and Madhya Pradesh Sports Director Sanjay Choudhary distributed prizes.
