Prasoon disappointed as Darsheel misses out National Award
New Delhi | Thursday, Oct 22 2009 IST

Noted lyricist Prasoon Joshi, who received the National Award for Best Lyricist at the 55th National Film awards for his soul stirring lyrics for the song Maa in Taare Zameen Par, has expressed disappointment at Darsheel Safari missing out on the Best Child actor award.

I would have been very happy if Darsheel Safary had won the National Award for Best child actor. I feel Darsheel came up with a marvellous performance in the film And deserved to win the National award,Prasoon told UNI here after receiving the award for Best lyricist from the President Pratibha Patil.

At the same time, Prasoon said he respected the decision of the National film awards jury to give the Best Child actor award to Sharad Goekar for his performance in the Marathi film Tingya.

I respect the verdict of the jury in the matter,Prasoon said.

On his reaction on winning the Best lyricist award, Prasoon said, winning a National Award is always a big honour, moreover if it comes for something that has been so satisfying as a writer,Prasoon said.

The lyricist said writing the song Maa required him to go back to his own experiences as a father of a daughter. Incidentally, Prasoon also received the award on behalf of Aamir Khan for Taare Zameen Par, whon won it for the Best Film on Family welfare.

Aamir is very busy with his next film Three Idiots. It is the last phase of completion of his film. So he could not make it to the function,Prasoon said.
