Designers gear up for WIFW 2010

The upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010 promises to be a glittering affair with Fashion maestros like Tarun Tahilliani, Ashish Soni, Rohit Bal, Ashima and Leena, Ranna Gill, Ritu Beri, Meera and Muzaffar Ali, Ritu Kumar, Sanjana Jon and Reena Dhaka showcasing their collections at the fashion event, to be held here from October 24.

The fashion maestros along with promising young designers like Nimirta Lalwani, Shantanu Goenka, Amit Aggarwal and Jason Anshu, figure in the list of 110 Designers will display the very best of Indian fashion under one roof.

The designers will market the finest of Indian Fashion to domestic and international buyers, fashion enthusiasts, media and other industry stakeholders, making WIFW Spring/Summer 2010 a world class.

The 14th edition of Indias biggest fashion trade event will usher a new era of a unified fashion week represented by the best of Indias fashion industry, brought together on a cohesive platform for another season of cutting edge design, style and business. The 10th edition of the event will see the return of reputed Delhi designers such as Tarun Tahilliani, Ashish Soni, Rohit Bal, etc to the FDCI fold, while Mumbais crme de la crme designers - Wendell Rodricks & Narendra Kumar - will open WIFW SS 2010. WIFW SS 2010 will also see the work of debutant designers who have shown flair, ingenuity and have the right blend of creativity and commercial viability.

President of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Sunil Sethi said, the essence of style is a designers simple way of saying something complex. They are the very heart of the fashion industry and play an important role in shaping fashion trends both in India and across the globe." "Our endeavour is to provide a platform to as many people to showcase their talent and provide them with an opportunity that every designer strives for. The designers must use the WIFW platform as a stepping stone to move their businesses ahead.'', he said.

The five day event, to be held at Pragati Maidan will open with a show by Wendell Rodericks and Narendra Kumar. Day one will also have the designer duo of Ashima and Leena, Ashish Soni and Tarun Tahiliani showcase their collections on the ramp. The second day will have shows by renowned fashion designers Ranna Gill, Ritu Kumar and Rina Dhaka. Incidentally, designer Sanjana Jon, sister of Anand Jon, undergoing a 59 year imprisonment in a US jail, will also Showcase her designs on the ramp. Buzz is that Sanjana will have celebrities Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen, Riya and Raima Sen walking the ramp for her.

The third day will have shows by promising upcoming designers Gaurav and Ritika, Nikhita Tandon, Nimirta Lalwani and Raman Vij. Renowned desikgners Vineet Bahl, Namrata Joshipura and Varun Bahl will also showcase their collection on the ramp. Showcasing their designs on the penultimate day will be designer Nalandda Bhandari showcasing his Dawn To Dusk Collection at the WIFW S 10.

The collection which, in its myriad hues of the day, embodies versatility with verve, reflects the mystique of todays woman, always on the go, in her many moods never still, never silent, flowing in the colours of Dawn To Dusk. Also showcasing their collctions will be Reynu Tandon, Suneet Verma and Varun Sardana. The last day will witness designers Meera and Muzaffar Ali Showcasing their designs. The WIFW will come to a finale with a show by designer Rohit Bal with his Grand Finale collection seeking to highlight Indias past glory and its rich cultural heritage.
