Sidhu calls Congress a ''hollow golden drum''
Ambala | Saturday, Oct 10 2009 IST

Slamming Congress today for its air-castles and false claims, the firebrand youth BJP leader and MP from Amritsar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, termed the party a ''golden hollow drum''.

''It even makes noise when wind wafts through it. Its like a bamboo tall at the outer side and hollow from within,'' said Sidhu, mouthing his trademark 'sidhuism'. The cricketer-turned-politician-cum-TV personality, Sidhu today remained the epicenter of BJPs road show held in favour of BJP Ambala- City candidate Sanjay Sharma.

Questioning the Congress claims of giant GDP growth and sensex rising from 8,000 to 18,000 points in couple of months, Sidhu countered that these so-called parameters of development at national level have failed to percolate down to 85 per cent of common masses.

Sidhu said Congress was losing popularity and has lost more than 80 per cent of bypolls held in Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and other states. ''The party got a crushing defeat at most of by-polls, which proves that the web of mirage it wove during general elections has lost its sheen,'' he said.

Sidhu added that the UPA Government at Centre had become ''synonymous to terror attacks'' with the latest being Jharkhand Inspector Francis being beheaded in dreaded Taliban style. ''When security forces are not safe what to talk of a common man ? There is undefined scare among the masses,'' said Sidhu taking a dig at Congress's claim of being with the masses. Sidhu appealed to masses to vote ''for a change, for a cause'', stressing that ''each vote makes a difference and each vote would ensure better future of India, which lies only in hands of BJP''.

Earlier, a road show was held in the city that started from Baldev Nagar, passed through areas of Jagadhri gate area, Patel road, Purani Anaj Mandi, Kotwali Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Banson Wala Bazaar and culminated at Shukal Kund road spreading message to cast vote for BJP.
