India Aspen Institute elects Avantha's Gautam Thapar as Chairman
Aspen Institute India, a non-profit organisation, today said it has elected Mr Gautam Thapar, Chairman and CEO of Avantha Group, as its Chairman. Mr Thapar succeeds Mr Jamshyd N Godrej, Chairman and Managing Director, Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd. Last year, he had received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Manufacturing. ''Mr Thapar was chosen to assume chairmanship of the Aspen Institute of India due to his commitment to fostering values-based leadership and for encouraging business leaders to incorporate in their work the ideals and ideas that define a good society,'' a statement said today. Aspen Institute promotes values-based leadership, open dialogue and cross-sector outreach by engaging the civil society, inclusive of business, NGOs, governments, and other stakeholders on issues related to India's development.
