''Slumdog'' kids Azhar, Rubina get homes

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today announced allotment of homes to ''Slumdog Millionaire'' fame kids Azhar Ismail and Rubina Ali, nearly two weeks after Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation demolished their shanties.

The children will get a one-room-kitchen (1 RK) tenEment at Malvani, Malad in economic weaker section category from Chief Minister's discretionary two per cent quota, according to an official release here.

The cost of house, Rs four lakh each, would be borne by the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC), the release added.

MRCC chief Kripa Shankar Singh had appealed to the CM to provide a house to the children, who became stars after the movie won international acclaim, including eight Academy awards.
