K'taka farmers to visit China Bangalore | Sunday, Dec 21 2008 IST
For the first time, farmers from Karnataka will visit China to study agriculture activities in that country. Official sources told UNI that three farmers from each taluk were selected and in all 500 farmers, in batches, would visit China to study about agriculture activities in that country. The first batch of 60 farmers would leave from here tomorrow to learn more about modern technology the Communist Country has adopted to increase agriculture production, and other related fields including animal husbandry, floriculture, seed production, gobar gas, pesticides and organic farming. The state government has earmarked Rs five crore in the Budget under the Karnataka Agri Mission for farmers visit abroad. The farmers would visit various agriculture science and research institutions, food processing units and agriculture industrial parks. The farmers would also interact with the Chinese farmers to learn more about secrets behind increase in agriculture production.
