Gurmukh, Harkirat lift gold medals in weightlifting

Gurmukh Singh of Government Senior Secondary School, Bharatgarh (Ropar) won gold with a lift of 160 kg (70 kg in snatch and 90 kg in clean and jerk) in 56 kg class on the second day of Punjab State Inter-School Tournament U-16 (boys and girls) Group II here today. Gurmukh's team mate Nichhatar Singh won silver by lifting 127 kg (60 kg in snatch and 67 kg in clean and jerk). Gobind Singh of Government Senior Secondary School (Sangrur) bagged bronze by lifting 120 kg (58 kg in Snatch and 62 kg in clean and jerk). In the girls section 53 kg category, Harkirat Kaur of Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Ratwara Sahib, Mohali won the gold by lifting 73 kg (32 kg in snatch and 41 kg in clean and jerk). Manpreet Kaur of Govt Sr Sec School Sawan Majra (Ludhiana) won silver with 72 kg (32 kg in snatch and 40 kg in clean and jerk.

Rajbir Kaur of Bhai Roop Chand Senior Secondary School, Bhai Roopa, Bathinda lifted 70 kg (30 kg in snatch and 40 kg in clean and jerk) and won the bronze medal.

In the girls freestyle wrestling 57 kg weight category, Paramjit Kaur of Moga captured gold medal. Balbir Kaur of Fatehgarh Sahib got silver and Kuldeep Kaur of Gurdaspur bronze. In 62 kg weight category, Karamjit Kaur of Tarn Taran bagged gold, whereas Veerpal Kaur of Mansa had to satisfy herself with silver.
