Seafarers hold demo in TN

Members of National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) today staged a demonstration in front of the district collectorate here, demanding the release of the 18 Indian seafarers hijacked by pirates off Somalia last month.

They also demanded that the Centre must take necessary steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Two seafarers -- Banirayan Lobo and Jerabin hail -- form Tuticorin district.

Officials of the union and their family members also participated in the demonstration.

athorties should understand the feeling of exseafarers situation, they have no money to buy even sugar medicine. all the other working people have pension now adays. we have no authorties , that is the main problem

we resighned seamen,in shortage of ship i resighned. ihave 60 year old job time. but i resighned duto shortage of ship in my 49 year old.one or one and half year stay in mubai very difficult to get ship that time.now i cant do any job.my age is going old,iam a sugar pationt i have no money to buy sugar medicine so please make the seafarer authorty no take any interest or authorties make any pension on ex seafarers,shipping authorty have enough fund like 100 crore rupees.
