Boy dies in quick-sand while fishing Sangrur | Monday, Sep 29 2008 IST
A ten-year-old boy died after sinking into a marsh where he had gone fishing with his friends in Kila Rahmatgarh, near Malerkotla. The boy, Shiraj Mohammad, had gone to the neighbourhood 'gahra chhappar' pond around noon and ventured into the middle of the marshy area to catch fish. He was, however, stuck in the quicksand inside the pond and began sinking. Upon hearing his friends' cries for help, a soldier Ibrahim from the nearby army area went to his rescue but by the time he pulled Shiraj out, the boy had died. -- (UNI) -- 29DR48.xml
