SAYSS won't allow any third party to interfare in land issue

The Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS), a conglomerate of 45 religious, social and political parties, spearheading the agitation, today said that interference of the third party in the land controversy would not be tolerated. ''No alteration in the Shrine Board Act and interference of the third party will be tolerated by the Samiti to resolve the Amarnath land issue,'' Brigadier Suchet Singh, a senior leader and member of the SAYSS panel said at a press conference here.

Brigadier Singh said, ''The issue is being discussed between the Samiti and the government and none, other than these two will be tolerated.'' ''Any peace formula should clearify that the proposal includes provisions of control of the land with the Amarnath Shrine Board during the yatra as we would not accept any thging less than that, he said. ''The leaders, including PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, NC chief Omar Abdullah, former state chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, JKPCC president Saif-ud-Din Soz, CPI (M) leader Mohd Yusuf Tarigami and separatists are not suppose to talk about the issue,'' the Samiti leader added.

Brigadier Singh asserted that the government should take care of the grievances of the people of Jammu.

Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and the yatra does not belong only to the people of the state but to entire nation and to the Hindus settled abroad, he said.

''The transfer of land to the board should be complete during the yatra while the land that was taken away by the government should be restored immediately,'' he added.

The Government-Samiti dialogue scheduled to be held at 1630 hrs today was postponed it is now likely to be held late in the evening.

Meanwhile, final arrangements have been made for the mass rally to be organised by the Samiti tomorrow in which over two lakh people from various parts of the state are expected to take part.
