Conference on ICT to begin July 28

About 1,200 experts from more than 40 countries will take part in a three-day conference on Information Communication Technologies (ICT) 'eIndia 2008', which is scheduled to begin here from July 28.

The event, focussed on e-governance and digital learning, is jointly being organised by Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Human Resources, Centre for Science Development and Media Studies (CSDMS), Microsoft and United Nations (UN) ICT Development programme.

The participants will discuss common challenges and extraordinary solutions, ideas and operating approaches towards digital divide and identify and explore the opportunities for digital India.

The conference will focus on e-Governance, digital learning, telecentre forum, e-Health, MobileServe, community radio and e-Agriculture.

''Apart from discussing ways and means to leverage the capabilities of ICT to promote good governance across the country, the delegates will also focus on digital learning to achieve 'education for all' goal as technologies have a major role to play for spreading education,'' CSDMS Chairman M P Narayanan said.

The conference will also see participation by IT companies like Globus Infocom, Educomp, Sun, Eductech, who will showcase their latest eGovernance and digital learning technologies.
