Control cyber crime with utmost priority: UP DGP
Lucknow | Monday, May 19 2008 IST

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh today directed police officials to check the growing cyber crime, which was assisting criminals and anti-social elements to meet their nefarious designs.

The DGP passed the directions to all the UP district police heads and other senior officials to take necessary steps on the incorrect usage of internet.

As the criminals and terrorists are increasingly using internet as a medium to give threats through e-mails, the cafe runners need to keep a keen eye on the visitors.

Now onwards, a customer will have to make entry and reveal his personal details like name and address in a register, which would be maintained at cafes, Mr Verma noted.

Besides, they would have to confirm their identity by showing anything like ID card, passport, driving license or PAN card etc at the cafe.

At times, the police officials will visit the cyber centres, keeping in mind that the commonman should not face any problem during this checking. In the recent Jaipur serial blasts also, an accused had sent an e-mail from Sahibabad of UP.
