Centre gives environment clearance for Navi Mumbai airport: CM Mumbai | Thursday, May 15 2008 IST
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today declared that the Centre has given the much-awaited environment clearance for the Navi Mumbai airport. Speaking to reporters in Mantralaya here, Mr Deshmukh said the actual work of the airport could now be taken up and the airport could be functional as soon as year 2012. The work on the proposed airport at Chakan in Pune district is also moving at a faster pace, he said. For this, the land acquisition process there has gained momentum. The state government will extend the same facility to the farmers which it had extended to the project-affected farmers of CIDCO area, he added. -- (UNI) -- 15BY26.xml
