CEO directs officials to follow ECI guidelines
Shimla | Thursday, May 15 2008 IST

Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manisha Nanda today directed all the officials concerned to ensure there was no violation of conduct rules for the Hamirpur byelection. Divisional Commissioners of Kangra and Mandi and Deputy Commissioners of Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una and Kangra have been asked to ensure that no government servant took part in any political activity under Rule-5 of CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964, she said in a release here.

She said no government servant would act as election agent, polling agent or counting agent and if any body was found violating these rules and instructions, they should be brought to the notice of Election Department immediately to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the constituency.

Strict action would be taken against those officers or officials found violating the conduct rules, she added.
