ELCOT to supply 1 lakh notebook computers to students at low cost Chennai | Thursday, May 15 2008 IST
The Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) has decided to supply one lakh notebook computers to students at affordable rates. ELCOT had decided to float an open tender to procure one lakh pieces and supply them to students of engineering and other streams at low cost for their benefit, an official release said here today. It was expected to finalise tender rates during the beginning of June and supply the computers to the students from June end this year. The price was expected to be in the range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 21,000, the release said. The computers would carry a three-year international warranty, and interested students could apply directly to ELCOT either in Chennai or in district headquarters. The computers would have a configuration of Intel Pentium Core 2 DUO technology-1.8 GHz processor, 320 GB Hard Disk, 2 GB RAM, DVD writer, monitor, modem, firewall, blue tooth and built in webcam, the release added. -- (UNI) -- 15MS54.xml
