Six policemen injured, police vehicle torched Bagaha | Friday, May 9 2008 IST
Six policemen were injured and their vehicle was torched by a mob enraged over the killing of one Suraj Yadav at Dhebri village under Dhanaha police station area in West Champaran district today. Police Superintendent Vikash Baibhav said here that villagers pelted stones on policemen when they had rushed there to bring the situation under control following a clash between two rival groups over land dispute. One Suraj Yadav was killed in the clash. ''As the news of the death of Mr Yadav spread, the situation deteriorated and the villagers began pelting stones at the policemen'' he said, adding six policemen were injured and their vehicle was also torched by the villagers. The injured policemen were rushed to the local hospital. The case was being investigated and raids were on to nab the culprits, he added. -- (UNI) -- 09CA39.xml
