CII signs MOU with A4e to turn Bihar into skill capital of world
Patna | Thursday, Apr 10 2008 IST

The CII today signed an MoU with A4e, a UK-based organisation, aimed at turning Bihar into the capital of skilled personnel of the world. Addressing the function here, organised to mark the signing ceremony of the MoU, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said 5000 people of the state would be trained in joint collaboration of the CII and A4e, an organisation with social mission working with the UK government.

The trained personnel would be placed suitably all over the world as per their skills, he added.

Inspired by the change in the scenario of Bihar, which was now conducive for investment and for other developmental activities, the international organisations were showing keen interest in the state, he said.

He also informed the government was completing the formalities for sending 500 youth to Mauritius on the latter`s request where they would be paid 350 dollars monthly with free food and boarding.

He said the government had accorded top priority to the agricultural sector and was also concentrating on skill upgradation for which the existing ITIs were being laced with modern training facilities and about 110 new ITIs were being opened this year by the private personnel.

On this occasion, the Executive Director of the A4e Roy Newey said the organisation in collaboration with the CII Bihar chapter, would work to review and promote the internationally best practice models of large scale, employer-led and government-supported skills delivery programmes.

He said their main concentration would be to design and implement a unique Bihar model for large scale skill development.

Under the MoU, a pilot project would be implemented in Bihar to train the rural youth from the below the poverty line.
