NTPC to recruit 3,500 people in 3 years
Tiruchirapalli | Friday, Feb 15 2008 IST

The NTPC Ltd, one of the major power generating companies, will recruit about 3,500 personnel in the next three years, NTPC HR Executive Director, G K Agarwal said.

Delivering his keynote address at the inaugural session of a two-day international symposium on 'management research', organised by Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) here today, he said that the fresh addition would comprise mostly of engineers and management trainees.

Fresh addition was necessary to synchronise the ambitious plans of the company and to enhance the capacity addition from the present 28,000 mw to 55,000 mw by the end of the 11th five year plan period, he added.

He said the recruitment had become more critical in view of the company's diversified embarkation on nuclear, hydel, thermal, renewable energy generation along with power transmission, power trading and coal mining.

He also pointed out that the company was venturing into certain prestigious overseas projects tying up with top branded institutes in Manchester and Singapore.

Inaugurating the symposium, Bharathidasan University Vice-Chancellor M Ponnavaiko said a site of 12.5 acre land had been earmarked at the University's Khajamalai campus where a state of the art infrastructure would be raised to accommodate BIM.

Later in his informal chat with reporters Mr Agarwal, who is also the Executive Director of Power Management Institute, said NTPC had acquired 10 acres of land in Noida to establish additional campus for the institute, which would be unveiled within two years.
