Exercise restraint, Ram Dev tells the young Agra | April 23, 2007 11:15:01 AM IST
Yogu guru Swami Ram Dev has launched a seven-day camp in this Taj Mahal city, saying youths needed to exercise restraint on sex and other licentious activities. Ram Dev, who enjoys wide following in India and abroad, said he was opposed to sex education being given to the young. "A balanced and disciplined lifestyle is what we need (for) the youth," he said. Later speaking to journalists, Ram Dev advised the young to "exercise restraint" rather than go for condoms and other contraceptives. Attacking Western culture as well as fast food and aerated drinks, Ram Dev said a return to simple lifestyle would automatically bring down medical costs of people. On Saturday, a day before the camp opened, Ram Dev visited the Taj Mahal. This is his first visit to the city. "Now I know why people are so attracted to the Taj Mahal. It is definitely the climaxing of the Indian genius of thousands of years. The Taj is the symbol of our cultural pride and heritage. There's life in these stones and a message of love," he said.
