Dawood Ibrahim's aide convicted in 1993 Mumbai blasts
Mumbai | November 20, 2006 9:12:30 PM IST

A TADA court delivering verdict in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts held Ijaz Pathan, a former close associate of mafia don Dawood Ibrahim, guilty for his role in the blasts.

The court so far has convicted 79 of the total 123 accused in the case.

"Today the court has accepted the evidence of the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) that Dawood Ibrahim, his brother Anees Ibrahim, then absconding accused Mohammed Dossa were behind the criminal conspiracy of the bomb blast which occurred on the 12 March 1993 in Mumbai," said Ujjwal Nikam, Special Public Prosecutor.

"The court has accepted the judicial confession of Ijaz Pathan recorded by CBI DIG (deputy inspector general) Mr. Chatwal and court has also accepted that it has been now judicially proved that Dawood Ibrahim and his henchmen were behind the criminal conspiracy hatched in Dubai much prior to the bomb blast occurred on 12 march," he added.

The quantum of punishment to the convicts would be pronounced after all judgments are made. (ANI)
