Record victory for K M Mani in Pala Kottayam | May 12, 2006 1:35:35 PM IST
Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani's victory from Pala in the Kerala Assembly elections, results of which were announced today, is a record in the history of Indian parliamentary. The victory of Revenue Minister in the outgoing Oommen Chandy Government Mr Mani, elected for the 11th consecutive term from Pala was claimed to be a record. Talking to mediapersons, Mr Mani said seven of the eleven Kerala Congress(M) candidates had been elected to the 12th Assembly. The reasons for the poll debacle of the United Democratic Front (UDF) would be analysed and steps would be taken to correct it. The pro-LDF exit polls and surveys, alliance with communal organisations and sympathy wave in favour of V S Achuthanandan, were among the factors which contributed for the LDF's victory, he added. Replying to a question, he said poll eve incidents would generally influence the electorate more than the performance of the government. UNI VST ROY MIR PC2217
