Peaceful polling during assembly elections in Bengal, Kerala

Polling for assembly elections in West Bengal, Kerala and Pondicherry and by-elections in Madhya Pradesh's Budhni was peaceful today, the Election Commission said.Deputy Election Commissioner R Bhattacharya said polling was held in 76 constituencies. In Pondicherry, 83 per cent of 47,763 voters cast their ballot in 51 polling stations for three constituencies. In Kerala, 68 per cent of polling was recorded where 85 candidates were in the fray. A total of 15 constituencies went to the polls and 2,472 stations were set up for 31.4 lakh voters. In West Bengal, 76 per cent of polling was recorded where 288 candidates were in the battle. About 10,436 polling stations were set up and the number of voters was 93.73 lakh. At Budhni in Madhya Pradesh, 55 per cent polling was recorded in 189 stations.
