Vakio on campaign mode in Pondy Pondicherry | May 02, 2006 5:37:06 AM IST Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) Leader Vaiko today undertook whirlwind electioneering in Pondicherry in support of the Democratic People's Alliance (DPA) led by the AIADMK.Adressing wayside meetings, Mr Vaiko lambasted the Congress Government for not holding panchayat elections in the union territory for years and promised to hold them forthwith if voted to power. Mr Vaiko also claimed that the prices of essential commodities, including cooking gas, had skyrocketed during Congress rule at the Centre and in Pondicherry and exhorted people to vote the AIADMK front to power to roll back the prices. The tsunami victims here were not provided with adequate relief and assistance though there were Congress governments at the Centre and in Pondicherry whereas Ms Jayalalitha did a magnificant job in Tamil Nadu, he claimed. Mr Vaiko is scheduled to address a public meeting at Thirubhuvanai where party candidate Ms Komala is contesting one of the two seats alloted to the party by the AIADMK. UNI PAB GM RR ND2014
