Court vacates stay on AIIMS registrar's joining duty New Delhi | May 16, 2008 8:45:07 PM IST
The Delhi High Court Friday vacated its stay order that restrained V.P. Gupta from joining as registrar of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). A division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar vacated the stay order issued by a single-judge bench, which Feb 28 restrained Gupta from joining as registrar at the institute. AIIMS moved the court March 27 seeking to quash the stay on the then acting director's decision to allow a former ad-hoc registrar to re-join duty. On Feb 28, ordering a stay on the decision, Justice Anil Kumar said Gupta would not be permitted to join duty as registrar till the court's further order. The court also stayed the then acting director Tirath Dass Dogra's order for release of Gupta's financial dues from March 6, 2007 to Jan 7, 2008. The judge passed the order on a contention by the faculty association of AIIMS doctors that the institute's acting director had violated the court's March 2007 order for appointment of a person on regular basis.ks/rd/vt (202 Words)16051935NNNN (IANS)
