Mohan Lal, Kaniha to get best actor, actress award at 2009 Malyalam Movie Awards function

Popular actor Mohan Lal and Kaniha have won the best actor and actress category awards for their roles in the movies "Pazhassi Raja" and "Bhagyadevatha" respectively in the 2009 Malyalam Movie Awards announced here on Thursday.

Veteran Director and filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan will be given the lifetime achievement award during this award ceremony to be held in Sharjah Cricket stadium on November 6, 2009. The mega event is expected to be attended by over 30,000 people including the non-resident Indians (NRIs). There were around 29 awards in different categories ranging from the Best film, Screenplay, Music Director, and Playback singers.

The award for the Best Screenplay has been won by M.T.Vasudevan Nair for the movie "Pazhassi Raja" and the Best Singer award in he Male category went to Shankar Mahadevan for the song "Pichavecha Naal Muthal" of the movie "Puthiya Mugham"

The movies released in the year 2009 are well thought out for nomination and put forwarded to the public in Kerala and Malayalee community across the Gulf for a gallop poll to choose the winners through popular voting.

Many prominent Mollywood and Bollywood stardoms will be present during the organization of this show, which is to be anchored by Ranjini Haridas and Kishore Sathya and an array of popular performers in Malayalam cinema.

Annual Malayalam Movie awards are well-known for its popularity and the international standards of its execution. By Juhan Samuel ANI)
