Prices close lower on CBOT Chicago | July 08, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
Pressure from weather, crude oil prices and the dollar sent prices lower Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Corn traders said mild, dry weather across the Corn Belt during the weekend likely led to improved crop conditions and forecasts called for good growing conditions for the rest of the week. Soybeans took their lead from corn, with meal and beans touching limit down during the trading session, partly because of lower export inspections. Wheat suffered from a wave of overnight commission house and local selling in corn. Corn was off 29 1/2 to off 30, soybeans were off 69 to off 70, wheat was off 50 3/4 to off 51 1/2, and oats were off 20. The prices: Corn: Jul 7.16 1/2 off 29 1/2, Sep 7.27 3/4 off 30, Dec 7.47 off 30, Mar 7.64 off 30. Soybeans: Jul 15.89 off 69, Aug 15.79 off 70, Sep 15.67 1/2 off 70, Nov 15.61 off 70. Wheat: Jul 8.22 off 50 3/4, Sep 8.36 off 51 1/2, Dec 8.59 off 51 1/4, Mar 8.80 3/4 off 50 3/4. Oats: Jul 4.35 off 20, Sep 4.47 3/4 off 20, Dec 4.66 off 20, Mar 4.82 off 20. (UPI)
