Train strike in Moscow ends in a day

A one-day train drivers strike in Moscow stranded thousands of commuters but didn't deliver the desired results, a union representative said. We have understood that the management will not talk to us now, and we don't want to lose our time and money, Moscow region branch union leader Dmitry Rasimovich-Rusak told The Moscow Times. Leaders called an end to the wage strike Monday after one day. However, we reserve the right to resume the strike at any moment, Rasimovich-Rusak said. Train drivers had demanded an increase in wages from $1,200 to $2,500 per month. What is $1,200 a month today? Sergei Linyov, head of an independent union asked the Times. (UPI)
