Nintendo recalls character lapel pins
Washington | May 09, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall Tuesday of Nintendo of America Inc. lapel pins.

The pins depict characters from Nintendo games, including Mario, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Pikachu and others.

No injuries have been reported, but the pins are a poison hazard due to excessive levels of lead contained in the metal.

The pins are 1-2 inches in height. About 71,000 have been sold in Nintendo stores in Redmond, Wash., and New York City between April 2004 and November 2007 for between $1.50 and $4.

Consumers are advised to stop wearing the pins immediately and contact Nintendo for a free replacement.

More information can be obtained by calling Nintendo at 800-431-0971.
