AAM buying Polish factory Detroit | June 01, 2006 12:01:13 AM IST
American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. said Wednesday it is buying a factory in Olawa, Poland, which it plans to modify. AAM, which is headquartered in Detroit, also said it has purchased some 75 acres of land in an industrial park adjacent to the building to develop into a 170,000 square-foot factory. Production is expected to begin late this year for AAM's Eastern Europe customers. AAM manufactures, engineers, designs and validates driveline systems and related components and modules, chassis systems and forged products for light trucks, sport utility vehicles, passenger cars and crossover vehicles.
