Pakistan facing international conspiracy: former army chief
Islamabad |Wednesday, 2009 7:35:06 PM IST

Pointing a finger at the intelligence agencies of India, the US, Israel and Afghanistan, a former Pakistani army chief said Wednesday that an international conspiracy was being hatched against this country but Islamabad had the wherewithal to deal with the situation.

Talking to a private TV channel, Gen. (retd) Mirza Aslam Baig said India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) the US' CIA, Israel's Mossad and Afghan Intelligence Agency Rawa were involved in a conspiracy against Pakistan and had imposed a war on the country.

"Pakistan is facing a threat both from its eastern and western borders due to mistakes committed by former president Pervez Musharraf," Baig maintained.

Echoing Baig's views, current army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said Pakistans defence capabilities should not be underestimated by any one as the military was

fully capable to take on any challenges.

Addressing a passing out parade at the Pakistan Air Force Academy at Risalpur, near the North West Frontier Province capital Peshawar, Kayani said Pakistan was facing extraordinary internal and external challenges and was threatened by an "adventurous neighbour". He said the army would continue action against the extremists.
