Venus tops Zvonareva for Sony championship

American Venus Williams dropped the opening set then trounced Russia's Vera Zvonareva in the next two Sunday to win the Sony Ericsson Championships in Qatar. Williams won the WTA's season-ending event 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-2. The U.S. star, who finished the season ranked No. 6 in the world, has three titles in 2008 and 39 in her career. Williams has an overall 6-1 record against Zvonareva, who is ranked No. 7. (UPI)
