No proposal by DMRC for hike in Metro fares
New Delhi | Tuesday, Oct 6 2009 IST

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation today refuted reports that the Metro was considering to raise its fares sometime after Diwali.

''We have not received any report yet in this regard. There are chances that the Transport Department has sent proposals to the Government, but the DMRC has not been issued any guidelines so far,'' Spokesperson for the DMRC Anuj Dayal said here after the CRRI presented a study on the Delhi Metro.

It was earlier reported that the Government was expected to increase bus fares by up to 150 per cent in some slabs and the Delhi Metro was also set to increase its ticket prices sometime after Diwali.

The reports said the fare hike proposal, sent by the Delhi government's Transport Department, was likely to be cleared as soon as it got the Cabinet's nod.
